Newcomb Cabinets exemplify the complex structures that can be built in the manner of de Stijl. These cabinets are constructed from 16 posts, 70 cross-bars, and 12 torsion beams finished in 1 1/4" squares of solid rock maple. The parts are joined at right angles with bronze capnuts and stainless steel rods. The surface is 39" above the floor for tall cooks. 30" is "child height" or may be hung in homes with high ceilings. Two free-standing frames are connected to form the "L" shape: the wall unit is 10' and peninsula is 6' long.
The doors, drawers, and shelves all may be removed – the entire frame may be taken apart, shipped to a new location and reassembled (as shown in the right panel).
Measure-to-order lengths, and five different heights: 18" 24" 30" 36" and 42". The 18" and 24" are to be hung for upper cabinets.
