Lambda Trading Desk (2005)

The artist's son Victor is a stock trader at heart. He loves the thrill of the hunt for badly undervalued stocks. So when preparing for an extended trip to Brazil, he packed his super computer to keep track of the markets. After he settled in Brazil, Victor realized he needed a charmed desk for his machine. So he designed the Lambda Trading Desk following the principles of de Stijl – well, most of them...

Victor wanted dovetail joints in the six drawers of his desk. This little touch is nice indeed but highly irregular – pieces in The Style Collection do not make use of glue! Also, it’s not easy to find a dovetail machine in Curitiba, Brazil. But he found an old one and rebuilt it. The result is shown in the image below.

The unique drawer system of the Lambda Trading Desk features dovetail joints.
